Nayyara Noor, who was born in Assam on November 3, 1950, is a talented singer of Punjabi folk music as well as Urdu ghazals and classical music. Her family was from the merchant class and had moved to Guwahati, Assam State in northeastern India. They were originally from Amritsar.
Her father was an active Muslim League participant. The family of Nayyar Noor went back to Pakistan in 1958.
